  1. Hi, my name is India, but my dad calls me by my middle name, Opal. I call my dad “the preacher” because he is a preacher at our church. One day when I was at the Winn-Dixie grocery store, I heard a scream, bang, and a crash. I saw tomatoes rolling on the floor. The manager came to me and asked if this was my dog. What dog? Then, guess what I saw? A dog. I said no. “Call the pound!” the manager announced. I couldn’t let this dog go to the pound. I said it was my dog. The manager asked me what my dogs’ name was. The first thing that popped into my mind was Winn-Dixie.I don’t have many friends, so I have no one to play with when I am bored. My dad and I live in a trailer park with no mother. When I bring Winn-Dixie home, I ask the preacher if we can keep him. He says yes. But when we realize that Winn-Dixie is a major problem, my dad is having some second thoughts. Will we get to Keep Winn-Dixie? I enjoyed this book so much because the author explained the story very well. I would recommend this book to anybody who is feeling lonely or who has loads of friends. If you like love, and dogs, this is the book for you!

  2. This book is about a girl named Emmy who lives in a rather large house with her dreadful nanny, Ms. Barmy. Ms. Barmy cooks everything for Emmy and wants Emmy to have perfect grades and be the best student in the class. Emmy has not had so much fun at school because it seems like nobody can see her, and nobody can tell that she is sitting right there. Why is this? Well, in Emmy’s classroom there is a rat, and this is no ordinary rat. This is a rat where if he bites you once, you can hear him talk. If he bites you twice, you shrink to the size of a rat. If he bites you, three times you look like a rat! One school day, Emmy was talking to the rat because she has already been bitten by him once, and she lets the rat out of its cage! After school, Emmy has ballet and French. She sees Jo (her crush) playing soccer. When Jo’s ball comes into the bushes where the rat is standing, Jo steps on his tail and Jo starts to shrink to the size of a rat! Everybody is looking for Jo. Will he ever be able to get to his original size? This was a fantastic book, so I would give it five stars because it was filled with adventure and it had a funky plot. It was a very mysterious book and I had a hard time putting the book down. I would recommend this book to somebody who likes fantasy and likes a good mystery.

  3. Little Women is about four sisters who live in a little house in the 1800’s in New England. The four sisters’ names are, Jo, Amy, Meg, and Beth. Next door is a rich man who has a son named Laurie. Jo sneaks out of the house and spends quite a bit of time with Laurie. Eventually Jo has a crush on Laurie, and Meg has a crush on his dad. Laurie’s dad is a lot older than Meg, but she doesn’t care. Also, the girls’ dad is at war, so they are worried that he will never come back! One day, when Laurie’s dad proposes to Meg, Meg’s mother, Mrs. March, says no and the marriage cannot be moved forward! Meanwhile, Jo and Laurie have become quite fond of each other. One afternoon, the family receives a note from dad from the war. But he didn’t write it-he can’t. Will Mrs. March say yes to the proposal? Will Papa be okay? I felt like I could relate to a Little Women little because, I sometimes fight over stuff with my siblings, and I know how Meg feel that mom wont say yes to something she wants. This book I would recommend to somebody who has a sibling, and sometimes they get what they want and you don’t.

  4. Skylark is about a family that lives on a farm, and one of their horses just had a baby. Sarah is married to Papa and had two kids named Anna and Caleb. Anna is an independent girl who loves her mother and writes in her journal when there is something to write about. Caleb is rather young and quite hyper, but his family still loves him. The problem is that the family hasn’t gotten rain in a long time and they do not have water. The family has not gotten any rain for a while now, and with four people and two dogs, with cows and horses, they don’t have enough water for themselves! The one thing they have been getting is wind. Suddenly, one day, a huge fire comes and burns almost their entire field. Eventually, the fire gets put out and Sarah, Caleb and Anna move away from papa so he can fix the farm. They move to one of Sarah’s friends’ house and it is fabulous. But it’s just not the same. Anna misses her papa a lot. Will she ever see him again? I would give this book five stars because it was full of action and I had a hard time putting the book down. I would recommend this book to somebody who likes exploit in addition to likes short but action-packed stories.
