Summer Fun!

I'm sure you all have many summer adventures planned! If you would like to share what you have been doing, post it here. When you do something fun, exciting, scary, interesting, unusual, embarrassing, or downright strange, craft a brief entry to tell us all about it! Read through the posts to see what your peers have been up to. Remember all the writing skills you learned in fourth grade as you recreate these experiences for us (think description, sensory details, similes, leads, closing thoughts, reflection, etc.) Try to post at least once during the summer; you are welcome to post as many times as you like though. I hope you have a fantastic summer with plenty of stories to tell!

Today i went to Denver with my mom and her friend Tami and her baby. We went to see the King tut exhibit at the Denver art museum. It was a lot of fun and we learned a bunch about King Tut. My favorite part was looking at all of the little details in these tiny figures.

One of my favorite sculptures was the replica of King tut's sarcofagus. it looked the exact same as the real one.

king Tut's full name is King Tutankhamun. Also i learned that he used to wear golden sandals and wore toe protectors so his feet would not get damaged.

  6. Hi everyone,

School starts in one more day. Time passes way too fast. I wish we could have a longer summer break. But, don’t get me wrong; I’m excited about going back to school. Aren’t you? I miss school. I miss the teachers and most of all I miss all of my friends.

I had a great summer break this year. I love summer break indeed. I get to do and learn lots of things that I don’t get to do and learn during the school year. Most importantly, I get to READ! Through the Longmont Public Library and Borders bookstore summer reading programs, I’ve earned myself 2 new books, Hoot by Carl Hiassen and Savvy by Ingrid Law. Imagine earning new books by reading other books. How easy is that?

There is so much to tell about my break. Let’s start with my Great Aunt’s visit. My Great Aunt K. from Sydney, Australia visited us in early June. We had a road trip to the west. It was overall an enjoyable trip. Especially to my dad and Great Aunt. (I’m not a very big fan of road trips!) Great Aunt K. went back to Sydney in mid July. Through her I got to know an Australian girl named Livia. Livia is 10, like me. She’s a very good writer and she’s smart too. We became pen pals. With my mom’s supervision, we email to each other very often. She taught me lots of things!

Going to Florida was my favorite part of summer break. On the 12th of August, my sister and I woke up at 5 in the morning. My family and I flew to Orlando with a quick layover at Charlotte. We went to Orlando 2 years ago, but we only managed to visit all the Disney World theme parks. This time, we visited Sea World, Aquatica, Busch Gardens, Universal Studios, Universal’s Islands of Adventure and Daytona Beach.

Sea World was 1st on our “GO TO” list. I had so much fun there! Our 1st stop was at the Whale and Dolphin Theater, where we watched a dolphin show called Blue Horizons, featuring acrobats, divers, dancing dolphins, birds, and water. Lots of splashing water! It was very hot that day. I wanted to sit in the SOAKING ZONE to get myself wet. But when I tried to get permission from my mom, all I got in return was a big “NO”! Instead of getting soaked, we got to feed and pat dolphins at the Dolphin Cove after the show.

    To be continued .....

  7. We moved on to watch Clyde and Seamore take Pirate Island. It was a hilarious show starring 2 sea lions. I especially liked the funny clown/pirate at the pre-show. He was so hilarious.

Believe and Shamu Rocks were both great shows about killer whales. They were fascinating shows overall, but I was a bit disappointed as the trainers no longer got into the water with the whales due to the sad incident that happened a while ago. Even though the trainers didn’t get into the water with Shamu, the audience still enjoyed the shows very much. A single tiny jump from Shamu caused everyone in the audience to go “Oooohhhh …. and aaaaahhhhh….. ”.

A’ Lure: The call of the Ocean had a dull story, but great acrobatics! I noticed most of the acrobats in the show were from Asia. They were really good, especially the silk yo-yoist.

Journey to Atlantis was my favorite water coaster ride of the day. Actually, it was the only thrill ride we went on that day. The rest of the rides were SCARY roller coaster rides. Definitely not for me! I got soaked to the bone. The 1st time we went down the steep hill, I almost literally stood up from my seat. I was terrified. My sister was so scared that she forgot to scream. It all happened so fast. (By the way, I saw Medusa’s head before we went down the slope. Thank goodness I wasn’t turned into stone!)

Wild Arctic was a simulated helicopter ride to a base camp in the Arctic. I personally think that it wasn’t much different than other simulated rides I’ve tried before.

We also saw lots of animal exhibits like Shark Encounter, Beluga Interaction (where you get kissed by a beluga, but with some fees involved), Penguin Encounter, Manatee Rescue and lots more.

We ended our day in SeaWorld by watching Reflections. It was an astonishing show with musical fountains and lots of fireworks. My sister and I got to join the crowd and danced to some of the songs that were played. (P.S. My dad didn’t like the D.J. He thought that the D.J was too noisy.)

We were all exhausted, but we had a great time there!

I can’t finish writing all my experinces today. I will continue telling you all my biggest adventures later. Thank you for taking your time to read this!

    To be continued…………
